Abstract

This study aims to describe the sociosemantic dialectics in the Qur'an according to Michael Halliday. The method used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study conclude, according to Halliday texts is a sociological event, semiotic encounter through the meanings in the form of social systems  are interchangeable. If you look at Halliday's theory, the meaning of the Qur'anic text will be present along with the historical factor and social condition of society. Meaning is a semiotic construction resulting from semanticscontest between individuals with historical and social reality. The formation of meaning is aligned with historical and social factors is the scope of the sociosemantic study. Because of its nature is a struggle, the style of the language of the Qur'an results in the construction of meaning in various sub-disciplines of semantics such as basic meaning, relational meaning, meaning field, and ambiguity of meaning. The construction of this meaning makes an interesting contribution in the contemporary Qur'anic commentary. In the sociosemantic approach, the textuality of the meaning of the Qur'an can be explored more deeply by adjusting the social folklore. Meaning is not the unity of the abstract individual and becomes a single interpretation. The meaning of the text of the Qur'an will continue to grow in line with changes in social systems and behavior of society. Thus, the presence of sociosemantics as one approach to the study of the Qur'an will enrich the treasury of contemporary Qur'anic study.
