Abstract

Currently, there is rapid advancement in the field of translation business. Classics such as the book of jurisprudence have been widely translated into Indonesian. Translators must pay attention to translation quality, including matching synonyms, rules, and the intended meaning in the text. Therefore, translators must master translation techniques and methods so that readers can understand the message conveyed in the source language. This scientific research aims to address the following questions: 1. How do translation techniques of the book "Fath al-Qarib" by Ahmed Najih compare from the perspective of Molina Albir? 2. What are the translation methods of the book "Fath al-Qarib" by Ahmed Najih from the perspective of Newmark? Therefore, the goal of this research is: 1. To identify the translation techniques of the book "Fath al-Qarib" by Ahmed Najih from Molina Albir's perspective, 2. To understand the translation methods of the book "Fath al-Qarib" by Ahmed Najih from Newmark's perspective. Out of 21 techniques found, they are categorized as follows: 5 instances of naturalized borrowing, 2 instances of pure borrowing, 4 instances of compensation technique, 2 instances of amplification, 3 instances of linguistic compression, 2 instances of linguistic amplification, 1 instance of description, 1 instance of calque, and 1 instance of transfer technique. And out of 11 methods instances found, they are categorized as follows: 4 instances of free style, 3 instances of communicative style, 1 instance of word-for-word style, and 2 instances of communicative approach.
