Abstract

Islamic religious education in schools which initially still tended to teach only the basics of religion, while moral values or the content of good values had not been fully conveyed in the 2013 curriculum changes. Islamic religious education was also directed at character-based education. This paper aims to determine the extent to which the implementation of character based PAI learning at MTs Wahid Hasyim Kapuran, Badegan, Ponorogo. Then in this study using a type of field research in the form of qualitative descriptive with the background of MTs Wahid Hasyim Kapuran, Badegan. And through data collection techniques which include; observation, interview and documentation. The research subjects came from school principals, waka curriculum, PAI teachers, and students to obtain implementation data, problems, and solutions from the findings that emerged. The results showed that the implementation of Character-based PAI learning at MTs Wahid Hasyim Kapuran, Badegan, Ponorogo had gone well. Character-based PAI learning has been implemented with self development activities which include extracurricular activities, and habituation in practicing commendable morals. Barriers to its implementation stem from the diversity of students' abilities with one another, inadequate facilities, and lack of support from other parties, namely the family.
